The music for the film was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj with lyrics penned by Gulzar.While Sanjeev-Darshan are seen in lead roles, Karishma Kapoor, Sunil Shetty, Ajay Devgn, Vinod Khanna and Manoj Joshi are playing supporting roles.
The movie marks Ajay Devgn's second collaboration with Prakash Jha after Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. His first association was Mera Naam Joker. Unlike his previous film, this film did not have any big budget. The budget for this movie is INR 25 million. The song "Chalti Hai Deewani" was shot in Bangkok, Song "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" was shot in Singapore while the other songs were shot in India. The soundtrack of the film became a success and went on to win a National Film Award for Best Music Director and a Filmfare Award for Best Background Score. The film received a good response from critics. Joginder Tuteja from Rediff.com rated it 3 out of 5 stars and said that Shootout At Wadala is a good effort by Prakash Jha.
